Animal Cruelty In Kansas

Kansas received some good news recently, animal cruelty is now considered a felony in the state of Kansas.

Many people worked long hours and shed a lot of tears to get this law passed and I personally thank all of them. This all started with a severe abuse case in Wichita that brought some much needed attention to animal abuse in our state. If you want to learn more about animal cruelty in your state the Humane Society has a good page that will tell you if your state law is considered a misdemeanor or a felony and any specifics about the law in your state. Another good site is Anti-Cruelty Statutes, on this site you can read the actual law for your state. As for Kansas, we are excited and thankful to finally have an animal cruelty felony law, but many of us hope to get some amendments made to the law in the hopes of getting stricter punishments. It's a start so I don't want to complain to much, it's just nice to have made it over the first hurdle.
