Doggy daycare is similar to daycare for human children, only it is for dogs. Many people are choosing to use a doggy daycare service for their pampered pooches rather then leave them at home alone. Before deciding to use a doggy daycare there are a few things to consider.
Find a service that comes highly recommended from a veterinarian or friends, family, and neighbors. Once you have your recommendations tour all the facilities. Find one that makes you feel comfortable - are the people who work there nice and friendly? Do the dogs look happy and well cared for? What kind of activities do the dogs partake in? Is the facility clean and does it smell good? Is there clean drinking water for the dogs? What are the rules as far as dog friendly dogs and are there any breed bans? You may want to look into who is liable in case your dog is involved in a dogfight.
Before your dogs goes to Doggy Daycare talk to your veterinarian about vaccinations. Make sure your dog is up to date on DHPPC, Rabies, and Bordetella. Keep in mind that your dog may be involved in a dogfight or pickup an upper respiratory infection while at daycare - it's just like sending a kid to school. But your dog will probably love the extra attention and exercise it will get at doggy daycare.
