You've brought your lovely puppy to see the veterinarian because of some seemingly simple hair-loss and itchy skin. The nerve of that veterinarian to utter the dreaded word "mange". No one wants to think that there beloved pet is a "mangy mutt" but even the cleanest pets can get mange. Mange is caused by a mite that makes it's home in the skin of our pets. The two types of mange common in dogs are demodectic mange and sarcoptic mange. In order to diagnose mange a veterinarian needs to do a skin scrape test or a skin biopsy.
