Pet CareLump on Dog
« Previous 1 2 Next » » charladawson - lump on dogs belly, chest area In response to lump on dogs belly, chest area posted by carmanmmm:All lumps should be checked by a vet. Usually they can feel it and tell you if it's nothing, other times they will stick a needle in it and extract some cells to check under a microscope. Some dogs get fatty lumps callled lipomas, they are nothing to worry about unless they start to get very large and restrict the dogs movement. A movable lump could definately be a lipoma but it is growing fast so I'd have it looked at. My rule is better safe then sorry. If it comes back you may want to get it checked but if there is nothing left for the vet to look at I would save my $, unless she is sore to the touch or not feeling well. -- posted by charladawson » charladawson - lump In response to lump posted by carmanmmm:Thought of something else - Some lumps are fluid filled cysts (sabacious cyst) that will grow, then go away, then come back again. Sometimes they burst and you have a little sore with bloody fluid, kinda messy. Just throwing that out as a possibility - can't diagnos, not a DR and I'd have to see it to be sure. If that is what it is they are nothing really to worry about. -- posted by charladawson » campbell1365 - lump In response to lump posted by charladawson:

A cat bite abscess occurs when a cat bites another cat, the wound then heals quickly creating an abscess that eventually bursts like a pimple and all this yucky pus comes out. Kinda cool. If that is the case antibiotics maybe needed. I would apply a warm wash cloth to the area everyday to help draw some of the pus out. Call your vet for antibiotics. You can use an ointment like neosporyn but alcohol will probably really burn so I wouldn't use that.
