» residentevilpsx - puppy training Hi, I have a wire hair fox terrier 3 month old puppy. she been potty training, and all of the sudden she started going in her crate, why would she do this???? please help!!! -- posted by residentevilpsx » charladawson - puppy training In response to puppy training posted by residentevilpsx:3 months old is still pretty young to be completely potty trained. I may need more info, how long is she being crated and how big is her crate. She may need more potty breaks and/or if her crate is too big she may feel she has enough room to potty in one corner and sleep in another. The crate should be big enough for her to stand up and turn around and lay back down. I hope this helps, let me know. But, when he is out playing with his toys he has to go ever 45 mins or 30 mins... when will that change? when he gets older? what is the reason for the short time? is that do to stimulation (playing)? when are dogs able to hold it longer? After 6 months? -- posted by laingel » charladawson - When i have my 4 month old basset hound in his kennal he can hol In response to When i have my 4 month old basset hound in his kennal he can hol posted by laingel:You are probably right, the puppy gets stimulated during play and needs to potty more often. At 4 months he is still a baby, he will probably grow out of it but every dog is different so it's hard to say when. Keep working on potty training. Does he go to the door? Or potty in the house? If he goes to the door that's great! Make sure he potties outside before playing outside, use a leash if necessary, that way play is a reward. -- posted by charladawson » badmolly - 6 MONTH OLD HAVING PROBLEMS I have a 6 month old toy poodle who is still not letting me know when she has to go out. She has been crate trained, and is now let out at least 4 times a day. Once in the AM (10 -11am), and before I leave for work(230pm -3pm). Then she is let out by my roommate while I am at work (8-9pm), and when I get home from work (1am). At night, I sleep, I used to wake up early to make sure that she was let out around 6am. For a few months, it worked out great. Now, she goes inside between going out, and doesn't go when she is walked. She also does not let me know when she has to go out. I am at a loss. When she does go outside, she is praised. When she goes inside, she is told it is bad (when caught in the act.) She is fed twice a day (before I go to work, and night.) She is walked after she eats. Water is kept out for her all the time. Please help. I don't like my home smelling of doggie doo and pee. -- posted by badmolly
