We have a 6 year old Brussels Griffon, who we've had since September as a rescue dog.
We've been having to crate her when we leave the house. She would be crated for up to 2-5 hours. When she is taken out of the crate, her face and front paws are sopping wet. There is no smell of urine.
Any suggestions as to why this is happening and can we prevent it?

She's drooling. Some dogs drool when they are nervous. I don't think she is being crated too long but she may have some anxiety about being left alone.

Try giving her something to do in the crate - Kong's, rawhide, something special she only gets in the crate.

You can also try crating for shorter periods of time and work up to the 2 - 5 hours she is normally in the crate. For example start with 1 min, then 3 min, then 5 min, etc.

Thank you for your advice.

She is something else! We're finding that she absolutely hates the crate but when we leave her out, she urinates on the carpet.

My gosh, today I came home and her feet are wet, her face....and even the blanket I put inside the crate.

Drooling sounds like what she's doing. I didn't know a little dog could drool so much!

Well, we'll take your advice and try some of the suggestions.

Appreciate your fast response!

Rhonda
