In response to hellp with my puppy posted by kratos31:
Puppies will whine at first. Don't give in, if you let the puppy out it will think that "if I whine and cry she lets me out". It's hard, but you have to ignore it, if you let the puppy out for whining, it will whine longer and louder next time. But if it has been 3 or 4 hours since the last potty break, then you should let the puppy out to potty, give treat for going outside, then back in the crate and to bed.

Good luck.

You might also try placing his crate near your bed and giving him a stuffed animal to snuggle with (beware of any tiny parts that he could choke on.) But, as Charla said, if you give in, he only learns that whining works.

I think I email you, but in case that wasn't you...
Puppy's will nip sometimes. Don't let him get away with it. If he bites your hands, tell him "no" in a stern voice and then give him an appropriate toy he can chew on. Have toy's available so you are prepared to give him a toy if he tries to bite or chew on your hands. Also, don't let him play this way with other people in the house or guests. The puppy needs to learn that it is a dog and you are people, you're not his litter mates. Puppy's learn that biting hurts from other puppies, since he is not with his litter mates, you need to teach him this.
Good luck, and most of all have fun with your puppy and enjoy.
Charla

In response to potty training posted by gjoe:
Your brother should make sure he goes to the bathroom before going in the crate. If he take the puppy out and it doesn't go, then back in the crate for 10-15 minutes, then take him out again. No play time until he goes. Your brother should do this until the puppy goes to the bathroom. He shouldn't leave the puppy until he goes.
